Lydia Walters

Associate Professional Counselor

My name is Lydia Walters. I am a proud member of the queer community and enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ folks who want a therapist that understands their experience in a personal way. I also specialize in trauma with advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) an advanced neurological therapy that assists in reducing the negative responses we have to past traumas. I meet my clients where they are and take the journey to healing at a pace that feels comfortable to them. I am currently seeing ages 13+, but occasionally take ages 8+. I see individuals, and couples both in person and virtually within the state of Georgia. Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have, and to request a free 15-minute phone consultation to go over any questions or concerns.

Lydia did her Educational Specialist and Masters degree at Clemson University in Counseling Education. Prior to her time at Indigo Therapy Lydia worked at Kennesaw State University with college students. Lydia also worked with Goshen Valley Therapeutic with ages 4+ foster youth and their families. Lydia is currently under supervision to complete her full licensure with Misty Andrews, and is being supervised for EMDR certification by Carole Lovell.

Areas of interest: LGBTQ+ (Poly and kink friendly), trauma, anxiety, phobias, depression, co-dependency, anger management, self-esteem, and other mood-related disorders.
